Arrange continuity of care
Before moving, discuss prescriptions and ongoing care with your current clinician and the receiving health service. Ask how refills, medical records, follow-up appointments and any specialist visits will be arranged.
Bring your health card, medication list and relevant contact information. Ask about dental care, prenatal or family services, mental health support and other needs that matter to your household. Availability and referrals depend on the service and community.
Care outside the region & benefits
Some care requires travel outside Nunavik. Ask the care team how referrals, travel and follow-up are arranged for your situation.
NRBHSS’s Out of Region Services department manages NIHB Nunavik and the Child First Initiative for eligible JBNQA beneficiaries, with CFI serving those under 18. Moving to Nunavik for work does not automatically establish eligibility. Confirm your coverage and any employer benefits before relying on travel or treatment funding.
Use the health board’s website for current public-health information and regional service updates. Health professionals considering a move can also explore recruitment resources.
