PHONE & INTERNET

Get connected before you arrive.

Prepare your mobile plan, compare home internet options and check what is available at your actual address.

Bringing a Rogers phone? Ask about Rogers-EXT.

Local advice for newcomers: contact Rogers before travelling and ask them to confirm that Rogers-EXT (Extended Coverage) is enabled and available for your plan, device and destination. Explain whether you are visiting or moving here.

Rogers says eligible postpaid customers need a compatible phone, and data roaming must be enabled to use mobile data on Extended Coverage. Ask support to walk you through the settings.

For a long-term move: Rogers describes EXT as limited, occasional use, with most monthly usage on its own network. Confirm how this policy applies to your stay before relying on it as your permanent service.

Mobile service varies by location and plan. Ice Wireless also operates in northern Québec and lists Kuujjuaq among its service areas, so Rogers is not the only provider to investigate. Check your exact destination with the carrier and ask your employer or local contacts about reception at home and work.

Download travel details and important contacts before departure. Town coverage does not establish coverage on the land or in a park.

Tamaani: Nunavik’s regional internet provider

Tamaani Internet is operated by KRG. Visit tamaani.ca for residential plans, customer service and local agents. Ask which connection and installation options are available at your address, especially in a new building or staff accommodation.

KRG is expanding Nunavik’s fibre-optic network. Some connections are already in service, while further deployment is underway. Regional fibre infrastructure and a fibre connection inside your home are different things: confirm your actual service with Tamaani.

Starlink: another home internet option

Starlink is a common home internet solution locally. Check service availability and current equipment and subscription costs for your address before ordering. Confirm installation arrangements with your landlord or employer, including where equipment can be placed.

KRG also provides information about Starlink and internet assistance. Check the current eligibility requirements directly; a subsidy is not automatic for every newcomer.
